Titus X Arwen Puppies!!

We have little Titus and Arwen puppies.  They are 2 weeks old.  Girl 1 and Girl 3 opened their eyes at 12 days old while the others waited until they were a full two weeks. :-)

Dam: Firebird's Even Star "Arwen"
Sire: Ricmar's Kristull Tradition  "Titus"
They are now just starting to toddle around and play with each other when they're not sleeping or climbing on each other at the milk bar...
See pictures of the babies here:

Back online after over 3 years...
Hopefully I'll have time to post more often than previously. :-)

Right now we are expecting puppies around Easter...

The proud parents are Dmitri (Firebird's Dare to Dream) and Isabeau (Ricmar Ladyhawke at Firebird)

Here's hoping for an uneventful whelping in a few more weeks!

We're on Puppy Watch!

Well, Tsarina has been busy preparing for the birth of her babies. Last night she made her whelping box into a cozy nest and she's become a picky eater. We are welcoming these signs to mean that puppies will soon be here.
This afternoon she decided to expand her nest to my bed! She was digging in the middle... (sorry, I love you, but you're not having babies on MY bed.) :-)
I hope to be posting soon that all the pups have arrived safe and sound.
For now, we wait and watch...

She's Home!!!

Tsarina's Home!

After 14 hours in a crate due to a flight delay, she was no worse for wear and had not soiled her crate at all. (There is no way I could have done that when I was pregnant.)
She was so happy to see us that she couldn't decide if she wanted to hug us or pee. :-)
Rob ran her across the parking lot for a potty break and she nearly dragged him back to where I was finishing up the paperwork and breaking down her crate. She was happy to eat and lay still in the car as we drove through the snow to get home. We were all happy to sleep when we got home at 4 in the morning.

Rob and I can't thank Gloria of Cool Run Hounds enough for all the loving care she gave our little princess for the six weeks she was in NJ. We also want to thank to special girls that she lived with at Cool Run. Bunny, Gimlet, Gretel, and Naima treated her like family while I was there and made her feel at home. Special thanks to Naima for teaching Tsarina that strange big dogs can be very kind and gentle. I just love her!

Tsarina also sends kisses to Tiki, whom she was making eyes at the very first time she met him. I think she'll be happy to see him and Gloria both at SilkenFest in June.

Now we wait for the puppies who are due at the end of this month!

We're Expecting Puppies!

Our Princess Tsarina, who I traveled with to New Jersey is pregnant! Her relaxin test has come back positive and I just can't help but start nesting. I am also eagerly awaiting her return home on Saturday. One of the hardest things that I've ever had to do was to leave her and come home 6 weeks ago. She has been in excellent care with Gloria and I know she's having a great time, but I miss her and look forward to her return.
I have started to go through all my whelping supplies and making sure everything is in good shape. I just love puppies!!!

We have a Therapy Dog in the Family

I just heard word today that Fonzie (Firebird's Javan Hawk) who is only 14 months old has just passed both his CGC and TDI tests. He was always the gentlest, laid-back boy of the litter. I knew from the beginning that he had what it takes to be an awesome therapy dog. I am beyond proud of this baby and thankful to his momma, Dian, for raising him and helping him attain these titles!

This photo is Fonzie at 9 months.

Sweet Dreams for my little Redhead.

This past week, we've had a special houseguest. Jess, (Firebird's Merlin Falcon) came to stay for the week. We have been so lucky for this puppy to live so close to us that he can come and visit. He has always been such a cuddle-bug. When he was a wee tiny pup, even before he opened his eyes, he would wriggle over to me to sleep in my lap.
Well this past week, Jess (who is a big yearling now) has spent every night in my son, Nathan's bed. Nathan is my 7yr old redhead that has not shown much interest in the dogs, but now feels honored to have Jess sleep with him.
They both got exactly what they wanted... Jess got to sleep in a comfy bed, and Nathan got a live stuffed animal to cuddle with. Too cute for words! Here's hoping Nathan will be able to get to sleep without Jess, who went back home this morning. If not, Forrest, our big goofy Silken boy will have to take over where Jess left off... :-)
